‘Maybe’ is the worst answer to a question.
Before I start, I realized how funny it looks as I descend into madness (as I write this) through what I post on this website, because here I am venting again, and maybe the next post will be even worse.
Honestly, I hate it when the answer to a question isnt “yes”, isnt “no”, and isnt a specific fact or piece of information, but instead the answer is “maybe”. ????????.
Idk if there’s ever a moment in life when that answer to a question is valid and doesnt make me want to curse out whoever is answering me, I only tolerate “yes” or “no” or specific information as an answer to my questions.
Im going crazy over rod and reef, Im losing my patience with this mess. I used to think it was really cool and something to be proud of, and super awesome to be the Lead Developer on it, but now tbh I just want to send it to hell and go to hell myself.
For 5 months, I was proudly saying things like, “oh, how cool im the lead dev on this project”, but now I have to admit, with great regret, that Id rather get the hell out of here than miss out on a potential success, or keep waiting to see if it will be a success or not. Because the reality right now is that we dont know if it will be a success;
Because we haven’t even released this crap yet, and we don’t know if it’ll be worth it or not. A few months ago, I was thinking “Fuck yeah, because the game is actually good (objectively, its really good), my boss is handling the marketing, and who knows what other shit is going on behind the scenes but this is going up.” But not anymore; Ive lost faith in this. My boss has been looking for investors for a month, but nothing has materialized, who knows why. About 10 parties have shown interest, but in the end… nothing.
We said July would be the release month and everything would go smoothly, but September is almost over and my boss keeps saying “This is the month”… bullshit. We aren’t even going to release this thing in 2026.
And my boss gets all arrogant about it, we developers have been complaining about this very issue for months, but he’s the one who’s been waiting over a year. I mean bro,
Honestly, Im doing this for the money, if I didnt have a family to feed, Id have already wished everyone luck, and set off on my own to make indie games purely for the love of art. I dont even know what to think anymore, I was trying to build my solid portfolio today, since Ive handled some pretty complex tasks on this game, but Im finding I don’t even understand my own creations.
Oh, and if my boss happens to read this during such a tough time, it wouldn’t surprise me if he scolded me for being so
