Your progress, saved and up to date

Warning

Rod and Reef hasn’t been released yet, and videos or GIFs of this system can’t be shown until it launches.

Everything you earn in Rod and Reef (coins, fish, rods, quests, achievements) is saved to your profile, and the UI stays up to date with every change.

What it does

  • Only one server at a time can write to your profile, so nothing gets duplicated or lost when you switch servers.
  • Every change on the server reaches your screen right away, without reloading anything.
  • When the game changes how data is stored, old profiles update themselves when you join, without losing anything you had.
  • Your preferences (volume, graphics, subtitles) are stored separately, so you can also change them from the main menu.
  • You can send a gift to a friend even if they’re on another server or offline. It arrives within seconds, or the next time they join.

Under the hood

Profiles use ProfileStore, a library that stops two servers from writing the same profile at once, and the client builds its copy from an initial snapshot plus the changes that arrive in order. The details are in the portfolio version.
