A ball of fire grows in your hand, you pick where it lands, bend the arc by dragging the mouse, and throw. It explodes against the map for 80 damage.

Warning

Sword Masters was abandoned in October 2024, and many of its assets belong to the group that owned it, so this system can’t be shown running.

Fireball is the Epic ability in Sword Masters. Instead of throwing it blind, you see the whole path before letting go.

How it works

  • When you press E, a ball of fire grows in your left hand.
  • A green disc follows your mouse over the ground to mark where it’ll land, up to about 75 studs away.
  • You click and hold to lock the target, and a dotted line shows the arc.
  • Dragging the mouse up makes the arc taller, and dragging it down flattens it. You have up to three seconds.
  • When you let go, the ball flies along exactly that arc and explodes when it hits the map.
  • The explosion deals 80 damage to everything nearby. In PvP that includes other players.

Under the hood

The arc isn’t physics: it’s a curve between your hand and the target, and the ball follows it one point per frame, so it lands exactly where the line said it would. The arc’s formula, how it compares to a real parabola, and the trust the server places in your client are in the portfolio version.
