Laser beam

Warning

Sword Masters was abandoned in October 2024, and many of its assets belong to the group that owned it, so this system can’t be shown running.

Laser beam is the most expensive ability in the Sword Masters shop and the longest one to use.

How it works

• When you press E, your sword shrinks until it disappears and your character pulls a laser out of its arm and mounts it on its chest.
• You click to fire, and the beam stays on for eight seconds.
• You aim by turning the camera: the character turns with it and the beam sweeps along.
• The beam stops at walls and reaches up to 135 studs.
• While it’s on you walk slowly and can only jump once every three seconds.
• When it’s over, the beam retracts, the laser goes back into your arm and the sword grows back.

Under the hood

What you see and what deals damage come from the same piece, the laser on your chest, so if the beam stops at a wall on screen, the damage stops there too. The real damage per second, which isn’t what the number in the settings suggests, is worked out in the portfolio version.
